At around 12:30 am Saturday, police responded to an alarm at a Harp's Foods in Springdale. A few minutes later, store manager, Bobby Russell got the same call. "By the time I got up here, there were like 5 police cars on the lot," said Russell. It was a robbery gone terribly wrong, however, Russell wasn't aware of just how rough the going was for this criminal until he took a look at the surveillance video. 35-year old Allen Sparks entered the store just before closing Friday night, but instead of leaving he stuck around. "He hid in the meat prep room underneath the table...he pulled [meat rack] right back here so if you were looking for somebody you would actually have to come over [there] and crawl under there to see him," added Russell. After everyone had left, Sparks headed back into the store and made mistake number one, according to Russell. "He first came out of the meat prep room and walked up to one of the cameras and turned it so I guess it wouldn't show him anymore of course it already showed him all the way through it." From there, as Russell Illustrated, Sparks grabbed a pink bag from a shelf and headed behind the tobacco counter. "He's...throwing all of this stuff in [the pink bag], gets him cigars and just a little bit of everything...loads it full, gets up and heads straight to the back," described Russell.
